LOW COST FISHING

FISHING AVAILABLE FOR:-

BROWN TROUT, SEA TROUT AND SALMON on the River Ellen. Fishing on the Dearham beat of the River Ellen is available to locals and visitors alike.

BROWN TROUT are small but numerous and can be caught from the 15th of March.
SEA TROUT are in the river from the end of May and grow more numerous as the summer progresses. Fish up to 7.5lbs were caught last year (1999)
SALMON are only present from August onwards and mainly when the river is in spate.
EELS are also present.

All legal methods of fishing are allowed, i.e. Fly, Spinner and Bait, but ground baiting is not permitted.

£ 8.00    per week or

£ 15.00  per season for year 2000 for adults

£ 2.50    per season for under 16 year olds.

PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE FROM DEARHAM POST OFFICE.
