The Calvert
Trust’s Aims
and Philosophy
|
Conceived
in 1974, and eventually realised in 1978, the trust was the first
Centre to pursue the ideal of the enrichment of the lives of all
people with disabilities through adventure and personal achievement. |
|
The
instructors and staff are dedicated to providing the professional
help and expertise necessary in the pursuance of these aims, and
constantly strive to expand and improve the range of experiences
available to people with all manner of physical, sensory, motor and
mental disabilities. |
|
The
Trust recognises, and respects the dignity of it’s visitors and
strives to help them achieve the level of attainment that they
themselves wish to achieve. It strives to encourage the belief that
no disability should exclude anyone from the enjoyment and
fulfilment which should be present in the lives of all individuals,
and focuses on ability rather than disability. |
“The
Centre gives disabled people an opportunity to discover, in
safety,
what they CAN do, and will help them to get as nearly
as
possible into the mainstream of life”.
