Nick
Carter Talks, Now or Never back
up
Source: Groovevolt.com
Nick Carter's solo debut, which includes the first single,
"Help Me," will be released on October 29, 2002.
The 21 year old (and youngest of the Backstreet Boys) says he’s
ready to reveal himself, "When you are in a group with older
guys, they want to look and act a certain way," Carter adds,
"It’s hard when you’re on this roller coaster, and you don’t
know what the hell is going on, and all you do is what your supposed
to do."
Now or Never includes production by Max Martin & Rami
(Backstreet Boys), Matthew Gerrard (Eden’s Crush), Gary Clark
(Natalie Imbruglia), KNS (Britney Spears), and the Matrix (Avril
Lavigne).
While Jive has yet to release a final tracklisting, the set will
include the following tracks: "Help Me," "Do I Have
To Cry For You," "My Confession," "I Just Want
To take You Home," "Who Needs The World," "I Got
You," "Former Rebel," and "Heart Without A Home
(I’ll Be Yours)."
Carter also notes his change in style of music from the normal
Backstreet sound, "In the Backstreet Boys, all the stuff we
were writing was like, 'I’ll Never Break Your Heart,' But I wanted
to write the opposite... I wanted my songs to have that fun
type-vibe," Carter said.
The singer plans to appear on many television specials this fall
including as a presenter at this year's Latin Grammys. During the
holiday season he will join Celine Dion and Enrique Iglesias for an
ABC Holiday Special. The artist will also make an MTV TRL appearance
on the day of the album’s release.

"It's hard to ignore the timing of Backstreet Boy Carter's solo
debut in relation to labelmate (and boy-band foe) Justin
Timberlake's. Unlike Timberlake, Carter sticks to fairly familar
ground on the first offering from his imminent Now or Never
collection. The track, which builds from a chunky, electro-funk
intro into an infectious guitar-laced pop/rock groove, plays to the
singer's vocal strengths. Carter is at his best when he's swaggering
like the heartthrob he's grown up to become, and he maximizes that
demeanor here. There are moments where he hints at a gruff maturity
that he's clearly not ready to cut loose just yet. Though undeniably
charming and fun, "Help me" won't make anyone forget his
history, nor will it guarantee his future as a solo star. But it
will easily keep his fans smiling, while leaving the rest of the pop
world happily intrigued about what he's got up his sleeve for the
future." -Larry Flick
** Justin on competing with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter:
"I haven't heard anything from his [upcoming solo] record,
but he's kind of doing a rock record from what I understand. In no
shape or form do I think we should compete, or will compete. I do
what I do so that I don't have to have a real job."

** Expect a book penned by Nick Carter to be published sometime in
September. The book is titled "Brotherhood". No release
date has been set yet. You can pre-order the book from Amazon.com.

Pop princess Britney Spears could soon have another boyband
boyfriend - if Backstreet Boy Nick Carter gets his way.
The blond hunk, who releases his solo album in October, would love
the chance to step into arch rival N'Sync heart-throb Justin
Timberlake's shoes.
When asked if he would make a move on the starlet, he says,
"Britney is very beautiful. I'd be crazy to answer
'No'....wouldn't I?"
Earlier this year reports suggested the two were planning to record
a duet.

Howie Dorough, hanging out with some compadres at the Groove.
Universal City Walk. Orlando. Clad in a white-collared shirt and
jeans, the boppin' boy-bander was feeling frisky as he viewed the
Hawaiian Tropic Model finals. Tucked into the VIP room filled with
plenty of buxom blonde-shells, H.D. mingled with the glistening
writhers and even posed for a couple of pics. Plenty of tan lines to
inspect, I'm sure.
