Introduction of opening music.
Johnny (J): Hello everyone!! (Applause from audience) Tonight -
ladies and gentlemen, we've got a bit of a situation, so,
we've got none other then Big Ron Atkinson coming down! (Applause)
Also - I don't know whether you've heard of the BSB (girls in the
audience scream), ahh! A couple of have, unless you're still
cheering for Big Ron! (everyone laughs) But - we've got one fifth of
the world's most successful band, he's about to launch his solo
career, Nick Carter's (NC) here ladies and gentlemen!! (loads of
screaming and applause)
[He carries on the introduction with a couple of his jokes to ease
everyone in]
J: My first guest was groomed for stardom at a tender age of 13, and
in the ten years since has sold, get this, 73 million albums!!
(audience cheers) Tonight ladies and gentlemen, we've managed to
'Get Carter', would you please welcome - Nick Carter! (girls scream
and audience applauses)
[Nick walks and acknowledges the crowd and fans, and then walks over
to Johnny where he gives him a big manly hug. He sits down, and
waits for the girls to stop screaming, which takes a little bit. He
laughs]
J: It's alright, Big Ron's coming! Just calm down! You don't need to
get excited, Big Ron Atkinson will be here! (jokes Johnny)
Hi Nick! Nice to see you. Right, ok so how long have you been over
here for then? I've always wanted to ask that.
NC: I'll be over here till Sunday [29th Sept], but I mean I've been
here recently recording for the up and coming album, I was here for
like a month, and no one new I was here! (Audience members cry out
'What?!' 'OMG!') {Nick laughs) I kinda snuck in! But...um..
J: Where were you hiding?!
NC: I was ..um... where was I at?! Um....The Saint Martin's Hotel?
J: Saint Martin's Hotel, OK - Yep..
NC: I went and saw the Star Wars Premiere, and went back and saw
Jamiroquai get in this big fight! (audience laughs)
J: Did you?! Go on..
NC: He was at the hotel.
J: I tell you what you could have earned yourself a hell of a lot
with the British fans yourself, by stealing in there!
NC: Oh man! (audience laughs)
J: We like that! Seriously. we like an American that can go a bit as
we say! (audience laughs)
NC: (laughing) I try to be non-confrontational!
J: Sometimes, when you're out on the raz, and you see a fellow
musician in trouble, you got to stick the boot in! (laughs)
NC: It was crazy cause I walked right up, when the situation
happened with him, and uh..the photographer, um...I actually heard a
bunch of screaming, and I had ..uh...walked from...uh..god..uh..Leicester
Square?
J: Yeah.
NC: and I walked back, and I saw this taxi car drive off, and then
it reversed, and sure enough there was this little tiff between them
two.
J: So you heard them screaming?
NC: Yeah, I'd been waiting inside, coos there's supposed to have
been an after party there and everything, and I went to the bar, and
just waited there, and a bunch of police showed up, and I was like -
woo! Y'know - standing up and looking (imitates someone looking
around) (audience laughs) Is that Jamiroquai?!
J: OK. Right - do you know what - I'm gonna be honest with you, I
think I'm getting on a bit, to y'know, ask you accurate, current,
good questions, that BSB fans want to know the answers to...
NC: Mmmhmm...
J: ..so luckily, I've found some people that are much better
qualified for the job than I am, they're some girls who are
currently enjoying a sleepover at Lydia's house (audience laughs) in
Kingston-upon-Thames, we're gonna go there (Nick looks around) -
there's the big screen (Johnny points to a big screen above the
audience - four girls appear on the screen in PJ's sitting on a bed
waving furiously!) Hi Lydia!
Girls: Hi!! (wave madly)
J: There they are, having a bit of a sleepover! (Nick laughs)
Uh..Lydia - how are you today?
Lydia: Fine thanks!
J: OK - what's your question for Nick?
Lydia: Hi Nick! (a bit of a delay!)
NC: Hi baby!
Lydia: (gets flustered at hearing Nick's voice, and laughs) Is this
the end of the BSB, should I take down all my posters?
J: Big question
NC: Uh..no I'm a BSB for life! (audience cheers!)
J: (interrupts) Uh... just a residual question, I don't want to bust
up the girls sleepover, but if you're solo career goes very very
very successful, as I expect it might....
NC: Hopefully... (he pipes in rubbing his hands together and
grinning)
J: ..(woops from the audience).. we're all praying for you
there...but might the BSB, y'know, might it be like - yeah guys,
I've got my thing now!
NC: Well...(laughs)
J: Y'know...like the Jackson Five....
NC: Well...(laughs)
J: ....y'know...always looking for the reunion with Michael Jackson,
but y'know like every 20 years! (nick laughs)
NC: Well...y'know...what I'm trying to do with my whole thing, is...
what I'm trying to do is..y'know.. make myself a better person, like
creatively, um..as an artist, y'know, I'm picking up instruments,
I'm doing y'know...maybe I'm doing a different type of music and
everything, but y'know, when I do finally get back with them and
when we do another album, because I'll be able to contribute a lot
more and y'know, knowledge and everything, cos before all this and
everything, y'know..I was very young and just trying to find my way
through the whole business, and I didn't know who I was
individually, so now I get a chance to try and find myself, and
create music, and have fun at the same time.
J: OK - (audience claps) Enjoy a bit of quality time, let's have the
2nd question please... (points to big screen)
Girl: Hi Nick, it's Carly!
NC: Wassup!
Carly: In 1997 you won the Best Haircut Award at the Smash Hits
Awards, why'd you change it?
J: Good question! - Y'see I wouldn't of asked that! (audience
laughs) I wouldn't have know to ask that!
NC: Umm..(laughs)..I was dealing with the banana-cut for along time
sweetie! (audience laughs) No - it was just...I don't know!...it was
just like something new, and changin' it! I've missed my hair though
(Johnny laughs)
J: Yeah - me too! (audience laughs)
NC: It's all gone now! I miss my hair, but y'know I might grow it
back again and see what its like..(shrugs his shoulders - audience
cheers!) They like it like that!
J: OK - lets have the next question let's crack through these
(points to the big screen again)
Girl: Hi Nick, its Kim. Have you ever been tempted to snog a fan or
their mum?! (audience cheers and claps!)
NC: Now let me get this straight.....(sits up)...(Johnny interrupts)
J: You see that...snog a fan or their mum?! (audience cheers!) Two
for one!
NC: Yeah - two for the price of one! (audience laughs - Ooo!) No!
um...(girls on screen laugh) No, I gotta get this right - actually
what is snogging exactly? Cos I get them mixed up!
J: Do you want me to call them down!?! (referring to the girls in
the audience - which scream yeah! and get all loud) No no - don't
rush the stage!
NC: Is it a kiss? (audience shouts yes)
J: Well yeah... I think its more of a deep kiss.
NC: Oh - its deep kissing! Ooo! OK!!
J: He knows now!
NC: OK - put it this way - I'll be extremely honest with you guys, I
have snogged a fan before! (audience cheers)
J: What was the situation? Y'know when you actually deep kissed a
fan?
NC: Well - I didn't deep deep kiss!! (he laughs and so do audience)
but it was a deep kiss! (laughs again)
J: Was it tongues and stuff?! Go on!
NC: (laughs) You nasty! (audience laughs)
J: I like to think so!! (Nick laughs again)
NC: No but...it's just..I was attracted to her, so I kissed her!!
J: Was she in a crowd? Waiting outside your room? In the lobby?
(audience laughs and so does Nick getting a bit more flustered) It's
not my dreams, its theirs!!
NC: It's prying!
J: OK - it prying, you're absolutely right! (nick laughs) OK lets
have another question, I think its from the top bunk - oh there we
go! (girl on top bunk on screen appears)
Girl: Hi its Maria! (in a monotone voice like a guy at which the
audience laughs) Now that Britney's single, have you ever though
about getting in there?! (audience laughs and woops)
J: Good question
NC: (a bit of a pause) Anyone got her number?! (jokily - audience
laugh and woop even more) Just playin! Nah!! no...um...No!
J: OK....thanks very much girls - GOODNIGHT!
NC: Bye!
Girls: Bye! (audience claps)
J: Ok Nick, now the girls have gone to bed, you were five boys on
the road, a bit of time on your hands, adoring fans knocking around,
what was...did you ever get rock 'n' roll?
NC: did I ever get rock 'n' roll?
J: Yeah....was it rock 'n' roll madness on the road with the other
lads?
NC: Mmm....(he grins and the audience laughs approvingly) I mean AJ
was kinda crazy but I was like the quiet crazy guy!
J: OK lets...I'm gonna ask you these little questions - Have you
ever smashed up a hotel room?
NC: Yes (says it firmly and grins)
J: Is that a great feeling?
NC: Well. it was accidentally, kind of! (laughs with audience - some
people in the audience shout -'Yeah right!')
J: I don't mean like knock a bottle of water off, but really got at
it! (they all laugh)
NC: I've gotten into some trouble put it that way!! (audience
cheers)
J: OK - have you ever lined up the best groupies and taken your
pick?
NC: (pauses - grins - audience takes this to be a yes and cheer)
Um...next question!
J: Ever been arrested?
NC: Yeah! (some audience members cheer while others go ooo)
J: What were you arrested for?
NC: Uh..actually....I was in the wrong place at the wrong time!
(audience goes 'yeah right' - Nick puts on a deep American voice)
Yeah - thats what everyone says!!
J: Yeah - me too! (Nick cracks up laughing and so do audience) Tell
me about it!
NC: No - seriously, I didn't go to jail, I didn't go to jail cos I
didn't do anything!
J: You weren't missing anything!
NC: Yeah, it was funny, cos one of my friends, he wasn't gonna let
me go to jail by myself, they didn't know, so they got
arrested....(Johnny puts on a funny American redneck voice)
J: Yeah! he gonna love your ass! (Nick cracks up laughing with the
audience) Now, I'm gonna talk about the music stuff, now you're
solo, you've got your own single out, are you nervous about doing
your own thing? Y'know...you're standing on stage without your
mates, it that something....
NC: Yeah...right now..I'm playin' a little rock music, and thats
what I've always loved - doing (makes rock sign with fingers)
J: Yeah
NC: And ...um what I'm doing is...what I'm able to do is perform in
like, smaller venues, purposefully, I wanna do that, just get closer
with the fans y'know? Really get intimate with them again, y'know?
(fans in the audience cheer)
J: Well, like a night like this!!
NC: Yeah - a night like this!
J: OK - lets have a look at a clip from your single, lets have a
little look, and then I'll challenge you to do something!
[Video of 'Help Me' plays the chorus]
J: There we go! (audience cheer) They like it! (nick laughs) Right,
what I wanna know, and this is something thats a British thing, we
always believe we've been raised in this way especially in this
current climate, now can you actually sing? Can they actually sing?
Is the question we wonder of all boybands. Y'know, yeah they're
miming!! (audience cheers 'Come on Nick!') Y'know, is there really
five ugly blokes round the back doing all the work! (audience cheer)
Y'know?!
NC: OK OK. Just let me get my tape recorder ready quick!
J: So what I wanna know, could you do that accapella?
NC: I'd love to! (audience cheer)
J: Do you need the band to count you in or anything?
NC: No, thats cool! right now...(he leaps into the first verse and
chorus of 'Help Me' beautifully on tune - he finished and the
audience cheer and the girls scream)
J: OK! (Nick coughs) Ladies and gentlemen - What do you say?!
(question to Nick) - No can't sing!! (Nick laughs) Ok ladies and
gentlemen - the wondrous Nick Carter!! (audience applaud and the
girl fans scream their heads off!)
NC: (acknowledges the audience and fans by kissing his knuckles and
raising it to the audience) Thank you!!!
J: OK great stuff. I bet you've answered a few critics there!!
For the rest of the interview Nick sits next to the footy legend Big
Ron Atkinson. He laughs along with the jokes and has a little chat
with Ron at some point, but nothing really happens. He nods he head
alot and laughs alot. Then thats the END.

Dear all,
I'm sure you all know but Nick's stunning debut solo single
"Help Me" is in the shops on Monday 7th October. Go buy
it! Hey, what the heck, go tell all your friends to buy it too! It's
such a great record and I know Nick would love your support in
making this HUGE!
You've probably already seen Nick on your TV screens and some of you
have even seen the man himself as when he was in the UK last week he
stopped and signed autographs for just about EVERYONE!
I know he's really enjoying coming back to the UK to see his fans
and make sure he thanks you for all the support you've given him and
the BSBs over the years.
Some of the TV transmission dates have moved around slightly and

Little Help From Nick

The first BSB to go solo, nick Carter is releasing his debut single
'Help Me' next week. The track is a sing-along guitar number that
sees Nick showing his fans he can do soft rock as well as pure pop.
The video for 'Help Me' is quite a departure for the fella, too.
Instead of the highly choreographed routines typical of BSB, this
promo shows Nick just hanging out. Whether he's playing the guitar
in a hotel room, bashing the drums in a music shop, or shooting some
hoops, Nick is determined ti distance himself from his boy band
roots for the foreseeable future.
Whether he'll return to them remains to be seen, and will depend
greatly on how much you lot like his solo stuff.
