Backstreet
Boys working on new songs
back
up
Source: AllPop
Solo careers, weddings and babies haven't pushed the
Backstreet Boys to the backseat forever.
Although Nick Carter just released his solo debut album
"Now or Never," Brian Littrell is a soon-to-be
father and AJ McLean is busy planning his wedding, the boys
are still working on their music, MTV reports.
They've already recorded two more songs and two demo versions
are also in the works, according to fellow Backstreet member
Howie Dorough.
Dorough dismissed any rumours that the Backstreet Boys would
continue without Carter: "We are all giving each other
space to explore things," Dorough said. "While
Nick's doing his thing, the rest of us are writing for the
next album. So when Nick's done with his project and Brian has
his baby and A.J gets married, we'll be able to get back into
the studio and crank out the album."
Dorough reiterated the rest of the boys' support for Carter's
new project, saying that after a decade together they all
needed some space.
McLean's planning on marrying his fiancee Sarah Martin on
Valentine's Day next year, while Littrell's expecting his
wife, Leighanne, to give birth at the beginning of December.

Source: Kriss
Fans worldwide are invited to join in the fun at the 2nd
Annual BSB Fan Convention. The convention will be held March
14, 15 and 16, 2003 at The Sleep Inn and Suites, in Baltimore
Maryland.
This year's convention has an even greater meaning to all BSB
fans, as we will be celebrating the Boys 10 year anniversary
with "A Decade of Devotion" as our theme. This event
is a charity fundraiser to raise money and awareness for the
Backstreet Boys charity organizations (DLF, HHC, NCOC, JWR
& JNN), while also providing a place to meet up with other
Backstreet Fanfriends and have a lot of fun while doing it!
This year we have lots of surprises in store for you, (so we
won't tell you everything!), as well as bringing back some of
last years favorite activities. There will be guest speakers,
and we would like to officially announce, with permission from
Angela Herring of the DLF, that the wonderful folks of the
Dorough Lupus Foundation will be joining us again! We will
have contests, drawings for special prizes, auction items,
games- like Totally Backstreet Request Live and Becoming
Backstreet, information/official charity booths, fan club
booths, a special Backstreet Boys presentation, & lots
more! There are a limited amount of tickets, so sign up soon!
Tickets to the 2003 convention can be purchased as they were
last year through Janet Connell, the convention President. An
online form is provided on our website here,
to help make the ordering process a little easier this year.
We look forward to once again serving your Backstreet needs
and making lots of money for all of the official charities!
C'ya in March 2003 to celebrate "A Decade of
Devotion" for the Backstreet Boys! Please direct any
media requests to Kriss.

Now
or Never Review from People Magazine
back up
Source: People Magazine
Now or Never - Nick Carter (Jive)
On Carter's solo debut, the baby Backstreeter shows that at 22
he's not a boy, not yet a man. On the cheesy pop-rocker
"Is It Saturday Yet?" (one of five songs he cowrote),
he plays to the Nickelodeon crowd with an eighth-grade
mentality better befitting his 14-year-old brother, Aaron
Carter. Later, on the silly, suggestive "Miss
America," he vainly attempts to put some stubble on his
smooth-cheeked delivery as he sings, "Take it off, take
it off/ Let's get it on, get it on." Marvin Gaye he's
not. Even worse, though, is when Carter attempts to rock out
on cuts such as "Girls in the USA" that make him
seem like, at best, a junior Jon Bon Jovi. He's better off
sticking to bouncy guitar pop and love ballads like "Who
Needs the World" that take him back to Backstreet. Bottom
Line: Subpar solo.
