back up
Source: The Orlando Sentinel
Backstreet Boys member A.J. McLean, who recently confirmed his engagement to girlfriend Sarah Martin, has more news:
He is selling his Phillips Landing home in southwestOrange County.
Asking price: $1.95 million.
What you get: 6,200 square feet, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, sound studio, dock, great views. McLean plans to buy a smaller home in this area and a bigger property in Southern California, which is where he spends most of his time these days. Rajia Ackley of Ackley Realty in Orlando is handling the listing and also is looking for property for a teen center that McLean, 24, wants to build in the area.
Some of the proceeds from the sale will go to the performer's JNN Foundation, whose goals are to keep music in the schools, to aid diabetes research and to provide a safe environment for kids. The house is to be sold furnished, but McLean plans to auction some items to raise more money for his foundation.
Ackley said a feature of the house's game room is hand-painted murals. Other features include a garden tub, a THX theater and a patio.

Backstreet Will Be Back
back up
Source: Smash Hits
Towards the end of 2001 rumours began to circulate the Backstreet Boys were about to split. Here at Smash Hits we also thought that the biggest selling boy band of all time had reached the end of the road.
A greatest hits can often mark the end of an artist's career and there was talk of each member working on solo albums. All very worrying, but now fans worldwide can breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Howie has told the American music magazine Billboard that the guys are about to start work on the follow up to Black And Blue. He stated, "We'll probably record for the next three or four months and put out the album in around September." Songs have been written which may take the group in a new direction. Howie stressed that that they are keen to try something different and be a little more experimental.
The bonus news for all Nick Carter fans is that he is the only member of the group who hasn't shelved his solo project. He's already begun work on his own album, but it's likely that the next group album will appear first.
Howie and Kevin are also still looking to break into acting, but it seems (for now) that music remains their focus. Howie is keeping himself busy by also producing the debut album by his sister, Pollyanna.

Perks (& a Backstreet Boy!) at Vanity Fair's Kickoff Oscar Party
back up
Source: iWon Fashion & Beauty
By: Tanya Jensen
Fashion Wire Daily LA - Vanity Fair kicked off the first installation in their seemingly week-long Oscar party marathon on Monday night at L.A. hotspot Les Deux Café.
Guests including designer Jeremy Scott, Paris Hilton and beau Bradley, Downtown Julie Brown, Bill Moyer and the Backstreet Boys' Kevin Richardson drank champagne and mingled in the lush outdoor café listening to the dulcet tones of New York designer Benjamin Cho on the decks.
If that wasn't enough to satisfy, Aveda was on hand offering complimentary hair touch ups, make up and hand and head massages.
"My head and my face, they're my favorite places to get massaged," Richardson explained to FWD as a diligent Aveda pro massaged his hands. Kevin came to the party with his wife and the directors of the foundation he set up, called Just Within Reach.
"I started the foundation for a few different reasons," Richardson said. "My father died of cancer and I think the reason was the air that we breathe, the food that we eat is so polluted. 'Just Within Reach' is an environmental organization. I think it's important for young people to be aware of what we are doing to the world and ourselves."

Richardson was handed a cell phone inside the Elton John AIDS Foundation party by Van Cleef and Arpel gemnologist Wael el Saadi and asked to say hello to el Saadi's cousins in Houston, Texas. He happily obliged.
One of them, Ruba Afifi, said afterward she couldn't recall what she said to him.
"I think I told him I loved him, like five times," the 16-year-old said by phone.
Richardson told the girls he and the band will be going into the studio soon to work on a new album. He also told her he appreciated her comments.
"I was like really freaked," Ruba said.

BSB's Back in Business with New Management
back up
Source: Fox News
Good news for the Backstreet Boys: They've settled on a new management company. The Boys have picked two famed rock reps to help them in their future endeavors: Irving Azoff and Howard Kaufman.
Azoff was once described as "the poison dwarf" in the book Hit Men. He's guided the careers of the Eagles, Steely Dan, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne, among others. Azoff is the sharpest knife in the drawer and takes no prisoners, which may be just what the Boys need right now.
Kaufman, of course, is currently representing Michael Jackson, which is a job no one wants but someone has to have.
The Backstreet Boys are in a tough position. They were once managed by the same people as 'N Sync and Britney Spears - first Lou Pearlman, who put them together, and then Johnny Wright.
But when Wright moved 'N Sync onto Jive, the same label as the Boys, the Boys freaked. They switched management to The Firm, another aggressive outfit But their most recent album, Black and Blue, was a disappointment, and it was followed by a premature greatest hits package.
Backstreet has also suffered from some publicity problems, most notably drug rehab for member AJ. McLean. A group with a teen following hardly needs that kind of attention.
Still, the Boys are not giving up and they shouldn't. I ran into Brian Littrell with his wife Leighanne at the InStyle/Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party. They were waiting on line patiently along with everyone else including actors (Rosanna Arquette) and regular folk. The Littrells are a cute young couple, and Brian can sing - witness "I Want It That Way." He could probably have a solo popstar career, but chooses to stick with the group.
My guess is that the group will drop "the boys" part of their name and re-emerge simply as Backstreet with an edgier sound and a more planned future. Good luck to them. Hopefully their legions of fans will follow them into the next chapter of their career.
