Backstreeter Nick Carter Makes Deal to Avoid Jail
Attorney Scott Salomon Reaches Deal with Hillsborough County State Attorney

Fort Lauderdale - After months of negotiations, attorney Scott Salomon announced today the dismissal of all charges against his client, Nick Carter, lead singer of the Backstreet Boys.
Originally, facing up to a one-year jail sentence for allegedly disobeying a police officer's request to leave a Tampa nightclub on January 2, 2002, which Salomon claimed was grossly unjustified, Salomon negotiated 16 hours of community service, small fines and apology letters to the two Hillsborough County police officers which resulted in the clearing of Carter's record. Although Carter was required to complete only 16 hours of community service, he has voluntarily completed over 40 hours of service.
"I am glad to have this behind me," Carter said. "Scott did everything that he said he would do and I was happy with the level of service that he provided to me."
Only days after Carter's arrest, attorney Scott Salomon agreed to enter his client into a misdemeanor intervention program keeping him out of jail ultimately wiping his record clean. However, it's only after eight months of negotiations with Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney, Sandra Spoto, that Salomon secured a full dismissal of Carter's case. "Until now the finality of the deal was under speculation," said Salomon. Carter could have been charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting or opposing a law-enforcement officer without violence.
Noted Salomon, "This was a case of a major celebrity being used as an opportunity for a flashy arrest. Nick did not do anything wrong, but be a celebrity in the wrong place at the wrong time. The police have a tendency to make a big deal over a very minor altercation."
Scott Salomon is one of Florida's most sought-after attorneys. His past and present clients include former NBA player, John Salley; Woman's professional football player, Anita Marks; former Miami Dolphin player, Reggie Roby; Cincinnati Bengals Fullback, Nick Williams and Minnesota Vikings Defensive Lineman, Talance Sawyer. Salomon was nationally recognized in 1994 while representing Noel Lemon, owner of the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers during a well-known licensing-agreement case. Lemon was a key player in bringing the World Cup to the U.S. in 1994.
Originally from New Jersey, Salomon is a graduate of the University of Miami and St. Thomas Law School. A South Florida attorney for more than 10 years, Salomon launched his career as an intern with the office of the public defender in Dade County prior to establishing a private general practice with an emphasis on real estate, sports and entertainment. Scott Alan Salomon, Esq. maintains offices at The Salomon Law Center, located at 2770 University Drive, 954-755-6700. • Nick Carter finishing up solo album        back up
    Source: Allpop

Nick Carter wants to prove he's more than just a pretty boy pop singer.
The youngest member of the Backstreet Boys has been recording his first solo album, scheduled for release in October, on which he plays the drums.
"I'm trying to put my rock influence in, big time," Carter told Teen People for its September issue.
"A lot of rock nowadays, you know, everybody's digging Linkin Park and all that stuff, but I want to bring more of a pop essence to the rock, but still keep it from being corny. I'm definitely pushing the envelope."
But the 22-year-old admits he also likes some adult contemporary music, like Journey and Bryan Adams.
"When I grew up, my mom and dad always played that music around the house, so it's probably a parental thing," he said. "I don't know if I'm an old soul, but I like history. I like old stuff."
